Case Studies
Keele University Enables Micro Grid with Argand G100 Solution
Keele University, a large educational establishment based north of Birmingham, has developed a Micro Grid for their campus (called SEND) that they are using to better balance the generation of wind & solar with their demand via energy storage. Installing wind, solar & energy storage meant that they needed to implement a G100 solution as the total generation / storage power were greater than their allowable export limit.
G99 Solar plus SWANS ANM Scheme
The "Netley Solar G99 & SWANS" project, located in Hampshire, involves a 2,400 kWac Solar PV asset for Fuse Energy. It addresses key client challenges such as compliance and market interface requirements by implementing our Power Plant Controller and G100 Export Limitation solutions. As such, the project utilises Argand's GridGEM and GridLENZ products, offering client benefits including project connection enablement, real-time data access, and regulatory compliance.
Ethical Power Type C G99 Control & EMS Interface
GridGEM was chosen by Ethical Power to provide the G99 interface for active control plus the provision of a G99 fault and power quality recorder. The system is one of only 2 that are approved in the UK market and will enable any type C or larger installation meet the existing DNO G99 requirements for real-time data recording.
GridGEM Enables Multi-Roof Solar with HV Connection Constraints
GridGEM was chosen by Solar Sense UK to provide the solution to enable a complex solar installation to take place on an industrial client site with inverters in multiple locations, multiple HV incomers and large distances physically between assets.
Marjon University Complex G100 Solar PV Project
GridGEM was chosen by Plymouth Marjon University and their key energy contractor, Mole Energy, to provide a G100 compliant solution to manage their export constraint at their site. The project was deemed to be complex due to the distances involved and the client’s HV connected site which required significant design engineering. The system manages 2 different installations to ensure that export remains within the DNO’s required limit.
PEC Automated HTMl Reporting Case Study
Plymouth Energy Community, a community energy organisation based in south west UK, has over 30 sites where they are providing power purchase agreements (PPA) for solar energy installed on the roofs of schools & community buildings.
GridGEM Enables “Parallel Supply” Private Wire Connection with ANM & G100
GridGEM was chosen by Black Dog Biogas to provide the solution to the complex set of problems associated with connecting their biogas electricity generating units to the Vestas wind turbine manufacturing site in the Isle of Wight in the UK.
The project had issues of parallel supply, active network management (ANM) & export limitation (G100 in the UK.)
Active Network Management Solution for 2.5MW Wind Turbine
GridGEM was chosen by Clean Earth Energy to provide the realtime and dynamic client side ANM interface between their 2.5 MW Vensys wind turbine and Scottish Power, the DNO.
GridGEM enables Zero Export Limit on Solar PV Project to Go Ahead at DPD
DPD require zero export limitation solution – Argand Solutions worked closely with a renewable energy EPC provider to supply DPD (www.dpd.co.uk) with an integrated 450kWp solar PV zero export limitation solution at their head office in Hinckley Birmingham to help reduce costs at their large distribution centre.
GridGEM Enables Investor Owned Wind Turbine to Connect to Industrial Site via Private Wire
GridGEM was chosen as the control solution to enable a 500kW wind turbine to supply electricity to Imerys’s clay mining site via a private wire in Cornwall. The project was complex due to a combination of export constraints across multiple HV connection points & the need for a dynamic changeover between different connection points.
GridGEM Enables Southend Airport to Install 2.5MW of Solar PV
GridGEM was chosen by Syzygy Renewables as the control solution to enable a 2.5MW solar PV system to be installed at Southend Airport. The project was complex due to a combination of export constraints across multiple HV connection points & the need to solve the problem of communicating with the inverters across a runway!
Automated Energy Analytics for Food Manufacturer
Blue Sea Foods, a Devon-based sea food manufacturing business, engaged Argand Solutions to utilise GridLENZ to enable automated HTML / web reporting & analytics for their food manufacturing business
UK – 6MWp Solar PV Site Monitoring Solution
Prior to engaging Argand Solutions, the client, Bee Green Solar, had previously installed a 6MWp ground mount solar PV site in south west England. The site had been installed without suitable monitoring & / or performance analytics and, as such, there was no visibility on weather-adjusted returns and / or real-time O&M issues. The client engaged Argand to solve this problem.
GridGEM Enables Wind Turbine to be installed with Export Limit
Client enables wind turbine on constrained Grid – Argand Solutions provided the client with a GridGEM™ export limitation solution that managed the output of a Northern Power 100kW wind turbine to enable the client to connect
GridGEM Enables Solar PV at Burgh Island Hotel
Burgh Island Hotel Solar PV Enabling Solution – Argand Solutions worked closely with renewable energy provider SunGift Solar to provide Burgh Island Hotel, with a 50kWp solar PV system that they would otherwise not have been allowed.
BREEAM Excellent for Energy Monitoring at Avanta
Avanta, a serviced office business now owned by Regus, achieved BREEAM excellent through their introduction of equipment-specific energy monitoring at their Eagle House development in Shoreditch, London
Energy Monitoring at Metafin to Drive Energy Reduction Strategy
Metafin , a powder coating technology business based in the Midlands requested Argand Solutions to provide a full energy monitoring solution to enable them to access data for both their electrical use and their gas consumption - allowing them to better predict costs at the business
Optimised Co-Located Grid Connection for Wind & Solar PV
Argand Solutions enables an optimised grid connection for Clean Earth Energy. Argand Solutions provided Clean Earth Energy (CE) with a GridGEM export limitation solution to enable CE to get an optimised grid connection. Through the combination of wind & solar PV, the GridGEM ensured that the combined system would never exceed the agreed export limit for the site.
