Power Plant Control

Argand’s Power Plant Control (PPC) is powered by our GridGEM technology, providing an “asset-agnostic” dynamic control solution for any renewable &/or energy storage project / asset to guarantee compliance with your country’s Grid standards. Our PPC will also act as a data acquisition system to ensure you have all of the data required to power better analytics, prediction & optimised control going forward. PPCs in the UK are used to ensure you comply with the key regulatory standards i.e. G100 & G99 plus interfacing with network operator ANM interfaces.

Export / Import Limitation

Argand’s export & import limitation solution is powered by our GridGEM technology, ensuring that your project’s power flows comply with your country’s Grid standards for import & export power flows (G100, UK). GridGEM’s “asset-agnostic” approach will ensure network connection compliance for any low carbon generation, energy storage, &/or load management e.g electric vehicles. Our solution will also provide a data acquisition solution to enable you and your project stakeholders to access real / near-time data via our GridLENZ platform.

Dynamic Network Control Compliance (G99, UK)

Argand’s dynamic network control solution is powered by our GridGEM technology, providing an “asset-agnostic” solution to ensure your generation & energy storage assets comply with the network operator’s control requirements in relation to frequency, voltage and reactive power (G99, UK). Our solution can also ensure that you comply with the Grid operator’s requirements for dynamic system monitoring (DSM), power quality monitoring (PQM) and fault recording (FR).

Active Network Management (ANM)

Argand’s Active Network Management (ANM) solution is powered by our GridGEM technology, providing an “asset-agnostic” solution to interface with any network operator ANM requirement. Argand’s ANM client interface sits between your asset and the network operator’s ANM interface to ensure that all realtime requirements for power modulation are completed by the power plant, and that the network operator is updated with their relevant response requirements. We have completed ANM projects on all UK networks across all of the different ANM communication topologies including DNP3, analogue, digital, ModBus etc.

Performance Analytics & IoT Alerts for Energy Assets


GridLENZ is a software platform that provides real-time performance analytics for building energy demand, renewables and / or energy storage assets. GridLENZ integrates seamlessly with data from GridGEM and any other data stream that you may have such as inverters, a building management system (BMS) and / or API. GridLENZ has been created to provide tailored analytics for developers & owners with a focus on optimising performance, minimising losses and ensuring assets maximise their output through better performance data. GridLENZ data will also feed into our GridMAP modelling tool.

Virtual Power Plant

Argand’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) solution is powered by our GridLENZ platform, providing a RESTful API interface to allow clients to remotely control generation & / or energy storage assets both as single plants or grouped together as larger “virtual” assets to access wider market revenues. ✺ Case Studies ✺

  • Argand Solutions - working with ESE Ltd - completed a high voltage G100 / G99 constraint management project with full micro-grid, wind, solar and battery storage integration; helping Keele to be placed as one of the top universities in the world for sustainability (UI Green Metric World Rankings, 2020).

  • GridGEM was chosen by Plymouth Marjon University and their key energy contractor, Mole Energy, to provide a G100 compliant solution to manage their export constraint at their site. The project was deemed to be complex due to the distances involved and the client’s HV connected site which required significant design engineering. The system manages 2 different installations to ensure that export remains within the DNO’s required limit.

  • GridGEM was chosen by Ethical Power to provide the G99 interface for active control plus the provision of a G99 fault and power quality recorder.

    The system is one of only 2 that are approved in the UK market and will enable any type C or larger installation meet the existing DNO G99 requirements for real-time data recording.

  • GridGEM was chosen by Vensys wind turbines, based in Germany, to provide a G99 compliant Grid controller solution for its wind turbines installed in the UK.

    Argand have just completed our 1st project with this new technology solution for a 3.5MW Vensys wind turbine owned by Clean Earth Energy, supplying power to a local manufacturing business in South Wales.

  • GridGEM was chosen by Black Dog Biogas to provide the solution to the complex set of problems associated with connecting their biogas electricity generating units to the Vestas wind turbine manufacturing site in the Isle of Wight in the UK.

    The project had issues of parallel supply, active network management (ANM) & export limitation (G100 in the UK.)

  • GridGEM was chosen by Sungift Energy as their chosen solution to enable the connection of their 240 kWp solar PV system at BREAN Leisure Park. GridGEM was chosen because it made the complex connection problem simple to overcome.
