Argand Solutions goes European
/Exporting one’s product to another country is quite a milestone.
Argand Solutions has achieved it by providing an export limitation solution to a project in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) for the first time this month (June 2025).
In the UK, the regulations specifying how the constraint of real-time electricity generation should be managed in relation to export limits is known as G100 (which also contains import limitation as well for load management.)
Recently, the G100 regulations in the UK have been upgraded to version 2 with more complex compliance surrounding the number of times and the amount of time that a system can go over the export (& import) limits before breakers need to be opened to curtail the generation (& load) for short periods of time.
In the ROI, the Irish Electricity Supply Board’s (ESB) export limitation regulations resemble an older version of the UK’s G100 regulations (version 1) where over-limit excursions are only allowed for single-digit seconds before generation breakers are opened.
In addition, the ROI has a specific “MEC=0” rule which stands for “Maximum Export Capacity equals zero.” In this case the system can only export for a short period with a very specific setting before tripping the breakers.
And, as with all systems, it needs to be fail-safe across a broad range of possible actions.
It would seem, in our opinion, that the UK has become the thought-leader in the provision of dynamic and static control of distributed generation as we see the leadership of G100 and G99 being utilised across Europe and further afield.
It is great to be working in the ROI and we look forward to updating you on other projects in the region and beyond.
If you have this situation in your specific country, and would like to discuss how we could help then please get in touch.
