Client Problem

J Marr (Seafoods), a prominent player in the seafood industry, was grappling with the challenge of escalating energy costs. This directly impacted their operational expenses and overall profitability. Furthermore, the company faced significant exposure to the volatility of energy prices, which made effective budgeting and long-term financial planning difficult.

Argand’s Solution

Argand stepped in to address J Marr's energy challenges by implementing a comprehensive solar PV solution. The core of this solution was the installation of a substantial 1.84 MW solar PV system. This project was strategically located in South Kirby. To ensure a seamless and financially viable transition, the solution was structured as a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The entire project was successfully completed in 2023, providing J Marr with a modern and sustainable energy source.

Client Benefits

The implementation of Argand's solar PV solution brought a multitude of benefits to J Marr (Seafoods). The company achieved significant energy cost savings, directly improving their bottom line. The PPA structure provided crucial energy price certainty, shielding them from market fluctuations and enabling more predictable budgeting. Environmentally, the project made a substantial impact by reducing J Marr's carbon footprint by 750 tonnes of CO2 per year. Financially, the solution was 100% financed, requiring no upfront capital expenditure from J Marr. Additionally, Argand provided a fully maintained system, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing operational burdens for the client. This initiative also significantly contributed to J Marr's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments, enhancing their sustainability profile.
